Our Process

Creating something custom doesn’t have to be complicated. Here’s how we work with you to craft garments that fit your body, your lifestyle, and your taste.

1 / First Meeting: Fit, Function, and Figuring You Out

We start with a conversation and measurements—chest, seat, posture, and the little personal quirks that make you you. We’ll talk about how you like your clothes to feel, what kind of situations you’ll be wearing them in, and what kind of impression you want to make. Maybe you’ve got a late summer black tie wedding and want a tuxedo in a tropical-weight wool so you don’t melt by the second toast. Or maybe you’re looking for a jacket that shows a bit of personality without raising eyebrows in the boardroom. This is where we get to know you—and how to build clothes that fit your life, not just your frame.

This session is almost always in person, especially for first-timers—we need to see how you stand, move, and gesture when you're telling a good story. Before you leave, we’ll schedule your follow-up fitting so we keep things moving and avoid playing calendar tag later.

2 / Rough Cut, Real Fit

We start by making a test version of your garment—a rough draft tailored to your body. It’s not the final piece, but it shows us how everything’s lining up: the shape, the drape, the way it moves when you move.

It’s kind of like a rehearsal dinner. The vibe’s more relaxed, but it’s where we catch the little things that make the final version shine. You’ll usually try this on two to three weeks after your first visit.

3 / Dialing It In (Fit Evaluation)

Once your test garment is ready, we’ll have you try it on and go through the details—how it fits, how it moves, what needs adjusting. This fitting can happen in person or over Zoom, especially for out-of-town clients. (We’ll guide you through the angles—no modeling experience required.)
After we lock in the fit, we’ll get into the fun part: fabric. From lightweight wools to textured linens, we’ll walk you through your options, and help you choose the details that make the garment yours—lapel shape, lining, buttons, and more. Once everything’s confirmed, we finalize pricing and get your order rolling.

Note: In many cases, we’ll cover fabric selection and pricing during the first meeting to keep things efficient—unless we need to track down something special.

4 / Crafting the Final Garment

Once everything’s decided, we get to work making the real thing. The pattern is finalized, the fabric is cut, and the garment starts to take shape. Most pieces are ready in about 3 to 4 weeks.

Some fabrics need to be ordered in, which can add a few extra days. And if you’ve asked for a custom lining—something with a bit more personality—that’ll add a little more time as well. But we’ll keep you posted at each step so you’re never in the dark.

This is the part where we go quiet for a bit—but just know we’re in the zone, building something great for you.

5 / Final Delivery (aka The Best Part)

Once your garment’s complete, it’s ready to wear and enjoy. We’ll do a final check together—either in person or over Zoom—but the goal is a clean handoff with no further adjustments needed. That said, if something feels off once you’ve had a chance to wear it out in the world, just let us know. We’re always happy to make it right.

Not technically required, but strongly encouraged: send us a photo of you in your new gear. Weddings, boardrooms, rooftop parties—we’re not picky.

6 / Future Orders Made Easy

Once we’ve got your fit on file, future orders are a breeze. No need to start from scratch—we’ve already dialed in your pattern and noted your preferences. Whether you want to recreate a piece you love in a new fabric or add something fresh to your rotation, we can usually go straight to fabric selection and design.

And if things shift—maybe you’ve dropped a few pounds, bulked up, or just want a slightly different feel—we can use your most recent garments as a reference and make any needed adjustments from there. The more we work together, the smoother it gets.

Not sure what to make next? We're happy to help you think through options based on season, occasion, or gaps in your wardrobe.
